Create an interior space to host a bespoke contemporary café, of which the menu will be marrying various culinary influences.

DESIGN CHALLENGES

In order to a achieve  a space reflecting the eclectic energy of the intended menu,  the concept needed to draw on Eastern, French, Venetian and Italian design influences and combine them with local urban flair. The intent of cooking with wood and fire required an open kitchen layout that was to be experienced visually without interrupting the overall dining and spatial experience on an acoustic level.

DESIGN RESULTS

The space includes an open kitchen concept, a marble cladded drinks bar and an exterior courtyard dining space. The bespoke venetian-style timber benches and warm leathers play in stark contrast with the industrial coloured steel mesh ceiling. Various shades of green finishes are balanced with natural timbers and muted pink terrazzo floors to create an energetic harmony in the space. The Wood & Fire interior achieves a café meets African cosmopolitan atmosphere and can be described as a cafe dressed in the most elegant work wear.
